The End of a Fuchsia Era: Cabinet Upcycle

Last summer I had gotten a gallon of fuchsia paint from Lowe's for my front door. I paid $5 for the gallon because it was a mistint. I actually thought it was red in the store, but used it anyway. Then I had a bunch of drawers I painted with it, and a kitchen cabinet that I turned into a sewing bench. Somewhere along the way I painted another cabinet, but forgot to take photos.
I painted a fifth upcycle with it, but we got so busy preparing a house for our son and daughter-in-law, that I never had time to post it. This is probably the last project I'll be using the fuchsia paint on,not because I've run out, but because it's been so cold that my paints (which are stored in my barn) froze and are unusable. There's a first time for everything,right?
Before I painted the cabinet, I did some light sanding (I hate sanding), and affixed fun foam bird and vine cut outs that I made with my Sizzix Vagabond.
I then painted the cabinet, and used a shelf I got at the ReStore for $1 for the top counter surface (also painted).
Once the paint was dry, I used my new best friend, washi tape, to trim the cabinet. Next step was painting some pegboard which I trimmed with washi, and hung on the wall behind the cabinet, giving the illusion it's all one piece.
If it ever stops snowing and I can get out to the barn, I will be using this cabinet to store a lot of glass items I had picked up for yard totems.

The finished project: The pegboard is attached to the wall behind the cabinet, not to the cabinet itself.

It was in pretty rough shape, though it was decorated with some original artwork.

Well, that could be useful for keeping things from rolling off the top of the cabinet.
I cut these birds and vines with Sizzix Bigz dies out of fun foam.

I really like the foam additions! Looks cool - I'll have to try that.

This is really neat, great way to add some color to a work space. I really like the foam instead of wood cut outs or stenciling. U can buy foam cut outs by the bag full(smaller ones). I don't have a Sizzix or a Crickut. When ur done with the totems, post those, too!
