To paint bricks inside your home, just decide what kind of look you're going for and then choose your paint color. Before painting I would take some mild dish soap and water and wash the bricks to remove any dust dirt and residue. Once you decide what kind of look you're going for... For example,if you if you want a rustic and more natural look, than you can paint the brick with a variety of colors using an sponge or a rag to only cover part of the bricks... it just look like they are bricks with the paint having come off over time. If you want to do a uniform painted look...you can paint them an opaque color of your choice and paint all bricks completely including the cement between the bricks. I understand what you're saying, I think it's probably just hard getting started and you probably feel like once you put some paint on the brick you are committed. Well it is just as simple as that...you just need to decide the kind of look you're going for and then just simply put the paint on the brick. Good luck and I hope this helps
