Just an FYI, some people say to pressure wash it, but I've read that pressure washing can raise the grain on the wood.

Before you apply stain, make sure the surface is clean(no dust, dirt, wood fibers or grease), dry and free from mildew. When a surface is not clean, stains and other finishes have trouble sticking and may end up peeling.

There are no shortcuts. As already stated, deck must be clean. We've power washed and had no problems. If there are rough areas, they must be sanded smooth, then rinsed and dried thoroughly. If you think it's dry - wait another day or two. You must have dry sunny weather for at least three days for this project - more is better. Good luck!

We have used Deck Over for 3 years in a row. After careful and thorough prep, paint peels in long strips Every year! Wood has rotted. It's a mess. After first application Home Depo replaced our rotted wood. Do not use this stuff!!! We are back to stain and then sealer after 3 years of hard work!
