For a clothing closet, Keep like items together: pants, jeans, skirts, tops... and arrange by color In rainbow order. Use baskets on the floor for laundry, shelving on floor for purses, and an over the door hanger for shoes. Baskets can go on top of clothing rack for assessories.

First purge anything that no longer fits or is no longer used. Take advantage of every single inch of space...have a spot for two rods placed over each other for separates, a smaller single rod for longer pieces. have shelves above the rods to hold baskets or pretty boxes to look after out of season/rarely used items. Use the back of the door for scarves/jewellery/shoes.

Take everything out and then evaluate every item - do you use it? When was the last time you used it, does it still fit (don't keep things you "might" fit into again). I would also get "huggable" hangers - you would be surprised how much more space they give you. For shoes, handbags, etc. go to the Dollar Store and get some shoe boxes, baskets are also good. If you have the room, take out your single rod and put a double rod in. Good luck.
