New sod has raised ground level around patio which now does not drain into yard.

  • Oh dear. Well your yard was not properly graded before sod was installed. Did you pay for this service??? Now you need to dig a trench all the way around your patio, which means taking up the new sod. Or calling the company that did your yard to take up the sod and regrading properly then replacing the sod. Here is a link to help you out! Good luck.

French drains are easy to install, if that is what you are asking. Dig them down about a foot, put gravel in the bottom, lay the french drain, then more gravel and cover with dirt. The end should dump out away from the house and be a little down hill from the house. We dumped ours out on our apple orchard. Hope this helps.

    Here's how to do it:

Dig a trench along the outside of your footing. ...

Lay the pipe on the virgin soil. ...

Cover the pipe with at least 12 inches of washed gravel.

Lay filter fabric over the gravel to prevent any soil from clogging the pipe.

Back-fill the foundation with top soil back to its original grade height.
