You could use some decorative wire then spray paint using heat resistant paint. Paint a piece of plywood black and hang the pendant rounds from that...then attach to the ceiling.

I have searched the web trying to find instructions on how to make something similar to these and could find nothing at all, but I must tell you that immediately upon seeing the picture you posted (before reading what you wrote about them) I thought it was a picture of a DIY project using clear glass bulbs of various sizes (like clear Christmas tree bulbs) covered with clear plastic or small glass gems glued over them and suspended by fishing line. I was wondering how they were attacked to the ceiling .... perhaps somehow suspended on decorative hooks? So I went on a search to find out. Results = 0, nada, zip ..... BUT I DID find something beautiful (to me anyway) using doileys in a similar way to papier mache or using mod podge:

Use a piece of wood the size you desire and drill holes where you want to hang lights. Hang the round balls with fishing line. You can sometimes times pick up the decorative balls at The Dollar Tree or businesses are already putting out Christmas decorations. Another idea is to purchase the globe lighting decorations used outside.

Alva, It just dawned on me that these blubls actually have small lights in each of them and are hanging from a light fixture on their wires, much in the same way as in the weblink below:

Above are all good suggestions. If you don't want to glue dozens of small bits on the globes, perhaps a frosted spray or paint (the type that is sometimes used to back fish tanks or at Christmas time on windows) might still be translucent enough to let the light shine through. Please post your finished project. :-)

I have a thought - to shape chicken wire into balls ( maybe into cubes?) and fill with white christmas tree mini lights. Depending on 1) the height of your ceiling 2) the location of the electrical supply 3) how much light you want ? If you just want some hanging balls, you could try to giltter glue some chicken wire and keep the actual light source something store bought.

Total newbie and this is the Very first link I clicked into! I heavily researched this nearly identical project last year and THE BEST resource was Rebecca Robison's DIY videos under Robeson Desings, I think. But she did video tutorials on several very professional looking but easy to do options using a variety of media and hanging options. just search her channel for them because I think they were actually posted under Christmas decor diys and were so popular that she created additional videos with other options/looks/resources. I would decoupage mesh to balloons and once dried, pop the balloons. You can spray paint the balls with metallic spray paint and then attach them to wire to be hung from a wooden plaque. :) Go ahead and share your project once you finish it!

I realize these are chandeliers, however, if you weren't using for lighting and just wanted the effect, you could purchase styrofoam balls in assorted sizes and cover with shiny pins, jewels, or tacks and suspend as others have described as above

My girlfriend is very crafty. She is also a kindergarten teacher. She goes to craft stores for supplies at least once a month. We were just in one this past week & I saw those exact same clear, shattered look glass while we were out. I'm not 100% positive but I believe it was A.C. Moore that had them. They looked the same as the picture you included.
