We been growing varieties of lettuce n large pots. & try using nets 2 prevent moth & cabbage butterfly & 2 lays their eggs. on the lettuce. So we don't use nets anymore which it needs more sunlight. We live n Pacifica which is great for lettuce, Squashes, sunglow tomatoes. etc. What natural ingredients we can use ? We do not spray with any chemicals & it all natural.
My husbands says dishwashing soap is not good for lettuce & vegetables. What r ur thought? How 2 get rid of moth & cabbage butterfly to prevent laying their eggs on our lettuce?

We try the nets & they seem to hide underneath the nets plus the lettuce doesn't get enough sunlights for them to grow. live n Pacifica a fog belt area n Aug- Sept. And birds seeds doesn't seem 2 help cuz too much bird poo & mice problem. We have lettuce growing n pots n front of the garage door. We can't grow n the ground cuz of gropher problem. And if we started seedling then the crows & birds eat them. so we buy them n 6 packs lettuce container. I want to know if some kind of organic spray like home made pesticide will kill the cabbage worm or moth beside using any DT, & my husband use it the chemical react with the sun, burn the lettuce last year, cuz we eat the lettuce daily. Do u c the pictures? This year the lettuce looks good but moth & picking the worms daily is a pain n the BUTT.

Don't know how big those containers are but maybe invert a large plastic bowl over your lettuce? or one of those clear storage containers.

I use food-grade diatomaceous earth. I have a manual Puffer that's like a tool that you blow up your bicycle Tire with but I also have a large can salt shaker that I used to. Hundred percent organic and natural but you have to reapply every time it rains. My biggest downfall is I wait too long and then have to catch up with the little buggers
