You need a special paint and sealer for tile. Check at paint store
You can do designs with craft paint on counter tops, as long as you seal it. Notice the picture above, that gal is using craft paint to make her design. You really don't need special paint. Just be sure you scuff up the tile surface with fine sandpaper, clean it off, use a tack cloth and a primer does help. The most important tip for long wear is to seal it, seal it, seal it. I've read about people who have put on 5-8 coats of sealer so it lasts a long time. Also make sure your sealer is CURED, not just dry. Most sealers take a much longer time to CURE than to dry. Read the instruction on the package for drying and curing times.
