Try a pile of dry, used coffee grounds on some newspapers, Debbie.
The best advice I can give you is to spread UNUSED charcoal briquettes (not instant light) on newspaper on each of the shelves, freezer, cubbies and floor of the fridge. Fill the remainder of the open spaces with crumpled up newspaper (not the ads). Seal the fridge (be sure the rubber/foam seal is good and tight), and leave the fridge sealed for at least 7-10 days. You may need to do this a second time if there is any remaining odor. This saved our side-by-side ref/frzr when our power went off during the summer and we weren't home for several days. (Ugh, what a mess!)
Have you tried charcoal yet?
Try your used coffee grounds. See if they don't absorb the smell. (Nothing to lose)
If the charcoal briquettes don't get all of the odor, try some activated charcoal. You can find it in pet stores with the aquarium supplies.
baking soda, coffee grounds, lemons
take a tray about 2" deep that will fit on one of the shelves - fill it with a layer of baking soda and nestle as many PLAIN ( not Quick Start type ) Charcoal Briquettes as will fit. Close door and come back in a week + , repeat if necessary.

Clean with baking soda
We had a freezer that came with a house we were living in. When we opened it a package of meat had been left in it. You can imagine the smell!!! My grandmother told me to stuff it full of wadded up newspapers and let it sit. So that is what I did. I let it sit for several weeks just to make sure. I opened it up and the newspapers smelled but the freezer was completely smell free! I hope that helps
baking soda or coffee grounds left inside works well
