Bathroom update

What color are your flooring, fixtures, and countertops? If they're neutral, you can choose any color family you like (though I personally try to stay away from browns and yellows in bathroom paint). Since the room is dark, choose a shade that has a high LRV, or light reflectance value. LRV ranges from 0 (a matte black that doesn't reflect any light) to 100 (a pure white that bounces all the light back).

One color that's popular now and most homeowners end up quite happy with is Sherwin Williams' "Sea Salt," a fresh blue-green with an LRV of 64. It's light, but has enough color not to be boring, and it looks great with both brown neutrals and gray neutrals. White is your friend in dark spaces! You can add color through your accessories. An eggshell or off white color in your cabinets could be nice! I would advise getting the color chips for the wall paint and the cabinet paint and putting them side by side to make sure one doesn't make the other look dingy.

Paint samples are your friend! Get paint samples and actually paint them on the wall you'd be surprised on how different they look on your wall. I went through SEVEN samples before I found the right one! lol All the previous suggestions for color are spot on : )

I am going to go against the grain, I like dark colors and white trim/wood work. They make a room seem bigger to me by making the corners disappear. That said neither of my bathrooms have windows. I think lighting has more to do with making a room brighter than the paint. In the attached link that room has 3 can lights, a light in the exhaust fan and a total of six bulbs in the light fixtures over the sink. I know you asked about color, but this is just a thought.

I had a very tiny 1/2 bath in a house built in 1850. Actually, it was carved out (added) from under a stairway. No windows. I did have white or cream ceramic tile and white fixtures. Since it was dark, (no windows) I opted for burgundy wallpaper. I also used burgundy bathroom carpet to cover the worn out floor tiles. I figured you had to have the light on regardless so I decorated it the way I wanted and it turned out beautiful (for a tiny space)
