Ben, do you want to know how to clean and/or clean a comforter? I can only suggest that you take it to a reputable dry cleaners where they will clean it and usually can repair it if it needs it.

Sew it on machine or by hand. You don't say what sort of damage you have, so cannot comment further.

If a comforter is washable take it to a laundromat and wash it in the large machine, if stuffing is coming out of a seam it is easy to stitch by hand with a simple overcast stitch. I have repaired comforters and quilts and it is actually quite easy (of course, I sew)

Repair it? As in it has some wear or holes in it?

Buy a duvet cover to put it in & give your bed a whole new look.

if you love the quilt, by all means sew, patch or repair so that is is usable and pretty to look at... if it is a weight you like and are not overly concerned regarding maintaining pattern a duvet is a great choice... I have seen patches on various quilts in decorative patterns for our cabin because I loved the material, pattern and weight of the comforter and made it a fun project and outcome
