Are you certain there is no lacquer already on it? As long as it is not coated, any good brass cleaner such as Brasso will work well. Follow instructions.

Thank you all for your suggestions,I know there is no lacquer on bed. I am the 3rd generation to sleep in this bed and have slept in it for over 50 years. I was hoping there might be a new product out there to do the job.

Hi Debbie, I have a brass bed that I have been sleeping in for years (we have owned it over 50 years. I hate to say it but I never even dust my frame. The end gets handled enough with the duvet and clothes I throw over it and the draperies at the head which are moved back and forth daily must keep the headboard clean. Also I keep pillows propped up there and the cases are changed frequently. If dusting is a problem why not make a "sleeve" for the headboard and footboard? I did this for my granddaughters attic bed in a space that is unheated. I just made a slip over thing out of velvet.

Thank you Emily,I have a quilt hanging behind the head of the bed . I think I just try pulling it over the head of the bed. And I to usually have cloths throw over the foot. But I could throw a quilt over the foot also. Nice pics.
