It may have grease build up...try using plain ammonia and water to clean it. Then, rinse well afterwards.

Wash it with ammonia solution?
Good ole soap (Dawn) and water clean often to ward off building up.
You can use duct tape, which now comes in stylish patterns. Or you could purchase a replacement handle -- there are a number of them available online.

Good luck!
I would use hot water and ammonia.
I scrubbed mine with Resolve powder which is similar to OxiClean. I took a damp cloth and dipped it in the powder and just scrubbed up and own. Then I rinsed the cloth with hot water, and wiped the handles. It helped make them whiter too.
Take it off and use Googone. Replace and wipe with furniture polish, this will act as a barrier for sticky hands. Clean with rag, hot water, dry, repeat with polish. Good Luck!
