fall and spring are a great time to thin out or add to gardens.. if you have plants that are perennials you might be able to sell or give to others who want to expand garden... I see plants listed for sale often on local tag sale sites .. use the earnings to purchase pavers, stones as a focal point add a water feature... have fun
