This side of the yard I was not going to do much.....mother nature said otherwise....after storm following another storm and flooding us out....often leaving this small deck in water..I had to end up doing something....

The Deck had completely rotted away,,walking on it to get to the small shed was suicidal ..never knew when another plank would snap.

Also the view before was our neighbor's property..nothing fun to look at...so now looking out from our windows..we have something more visually appealing .

This area is approx 8'x 12' and leads to a small shed that houses our extra small fridge and freezer.

small table and chairs to relax on.....

a far better view and much safer to get to that shed...so what I did was........

step 1 was waiting for the rain to finally stop, long enough to tackle the deck.

this was the deck....

hammer in hand 1st step was removing what planks I could and then clean up under it

decided this area will have a small garden..so I put beams to help with soil erosion....

placed plants here and will wait for a couple of weeks to see it they are getting enough sunshine...moved a bird bath over here as well along with 2 benches to sit on

bench 1 I made...

placed 2nd bench and a small outdoor rug here...it is plastic so not worried it if gets water

last night we put up the background so this is a dusk snapshot of the view

Backdrop during the day allows light to filter through

another daytime view of the area...

plants planted and added a small bistro set

this year I took of the printed screen to plant more flowers

we also moved the patio set to give us an extra seating area

and we moved the grill to enable us to grill all seasons

Suggested materials:
  • Backdrop   (moved from another location)
  • 4-2'x4'x9' boards   (surplus wood we had left over)
  • 2-fence bracket   (from neighbor)

Where did you get the backdrop? What was it originally called? I'm not having much luck Googling "outdoor backdrop"!

    thanks

Your intro regarding replacing the walkway, but you only had 1 pic of it. Was it over a small patio size concrete pad? Did you rip up all the walkway boards and just do a clean up of the debris leaving the concrete?

you stated that area was flooded, hence the rotten deck boards. why didn't you make the new deck or walk way raised higher? thank you
