Are you referring to cinder blocks
The holes are not identical, even from the same manufacturer. Best to buy them and then measure. Someone posted about a similar project that you can search for.

I'd get either the board or blocks together in the store and set it up to see if you like the result.
They make different size concrete blocks so I would go to the lumber store and measure the ones you like.
