From my own experience, if it is from a flooding drain, DO NOT pour it back into the drain of your sink, or you will be picking up the same water over and over. First, Find out WHY you have the water in your basement. Are the pipes plugged with roots? If so, it will happen repeatedly until the roots are taken care of. In that case, go to a plumbing supply store and ask for the product that will remove the roots from the pipes. Pour it down your toilet according to the directions and repeat as needed. Once that is discovered, you will know what to do to avoid adding to the problem before it is fixed. I have mopped, and bucketed out a lot of water (I didn't have a wet dry vac. back then!) and then mopped with bleach water to disinfect. After a flood, I literally poured a bottle of bleach all around the walls of our basement since the water had been 4 feet deep, and then cleaned that out of the basement. That was a concrete basement, no tile, wallboard or anything like that to worry about. If it is weather related, find where it is coming in and get help if needed to prevent it from happening again. The source MUST be stopped before cleaning it out will do you any good! THEN go to cleaning!
