I'm not sure what type of plant is called weightless and I can't find one by searching online. The closed thing I found was an experiment to determine if plants will grow in a weightless environment. Is there another name for this plant? Let us know and we'll be glad to help you. No matter which type it is you can safely prune after blooming before buds develop on new wood if it's a new wood plant.

    Are you talking about Weigela?

Common names vary from region to region, state to state, country to country, etc. What my sister (OK) calls False Vervain, I call (FL) Porterweed. It may be a common name with which we're not familiar. Would you post a picture?

Here's a website that lists some of the more popular shrubs that bloom on old wood (not that this is a comprehensive list) and sometimes it depends on the variety (like hydrangea - some bloom on both old & new wood).
