Here' s a fun little diy project to try this weekend. Everywhere you look painting rocks is all the rage. I remember painting them as a child. Of course they were no where near as beautiful as the ones I see today with all the Mandala like patterns all variety of colors.
So, one day as I was working in the garden, I noticed that my stone path needing a bit of work and started thinking about all the beautiful painted rocks. [see lots of gardening ideas here.]
We had a stash of old bricks in the side yard. Not rocks, but nice and flat for painting and would be a big help as a stepping stone for the garden path.
Instead of the many colored Mandala patterns I decided to use a few fun garden phrases. First I painted the brick with black patio paint. Then I printed out my word and lighted glued it on top with a glue stick.

Next, paint over the entire surface with white patio paint.
Then remove the paper, revealing the word underneath. You can see that I left a little bit of the paper between the individual letters to help me with spacing just like a stencil. Now all you need to do is touch up with the white paint or the black if you have some bleed through.
They turned out great and are a big help in the garden. Adding a little whimsy and function.
