What a treasure you have! First, wrap every square inch of the tree with the tiny Christmas lights (forget what they're called), being careful not to cover the end "leaf attachments." Then get some flowering cherry branches or willow branches at Hobby Lobby (or wherever) and attach to the leaf attachment ends.
Wrap it in yarn and lights, attach small clips to the ends to display seasonal decorations.
I think Karen is talking about "fairy lights." Great idea btw.
