I am looking for the best way to paint it. It is well sanded. Do I seal the wood and if so, with what? What is the best paint to use.

I painted an old metal folding chair and stenciled it (it's some spray kit for waterproofing. )It turned out great and water beads up . It says wood also. It's a 2 type spray process . Rust oleum Never Wet. Says even for concrete! I'm getting more of it.

I would use marine polyurethane to put on the final sealant and put on more than one coat and it should last longer. We used it on our back steps that we replaced and two years later still look like new.

Do you mean literally outside with no cover of any kind? The chairs in this picture spend the winter outdoors but on this screened in porch. I don't cover them or anything. They are old chairs I pick up from the town transfer station. I am in love with this green oil paint which I bought at our discount store. These chairs are at least 5 or 6 years since I painted them. I don't prime them either. I am so out of the loop I have never used "chalk" paint. For paint questions I go to Benjamin Moore store. But this green paint is terrific. . oh and the table too, although just painted holds up very well and I can't remember the paint. Couldn't you put like a big piece of plastic over it?
