End Grain Cobble Block Wood Tile Flooring
Just wondering what people thought about our end grain wood tile flooring idea. So many different ways to lay out. What's your favorite?
You will never regret hardwood floors. So much easier to maintain, also add value to your home for resale. We had a company come in and do ours while we were on vacation. We also have a dog, and own a Roomba to keep the floors dust and dog hair free. An option would be laminate, which is much cheaper. Some of the newer laminates look great!
What is your subfloor?
If you are on a cement slab you can paint it.
On a raised foundation? If the sheeting is in good shape you can paint it! If not, replacing sheeting is fairly simple.
You can also lay peel & stick tile which is a pretty simple job.
Linoleum can be a little tricky but lay fairly quick.
If you like the look of the wood floors but don't have the tools, there are vinyl versions that go down fairly easy!
A work intensive but simple wood floor is the plywood strip floor that is much cheaper per square foot I have been told. I haven't done one so I'm not sure about that.
There is also the paper grocery sack floor. I've never laid one but it looks super easy!
Then there are VCT floors which are a bit more tedious to lay. Ceramic and Porcelain tile are a bit more expensive and need tools and know how but look nice.
Stone floors are beautiful but require tools, patience, and know how.
Thats all the floors I can think of right now

If you like the wood look, use laminate. Very easy to apply yourself. You can watch for sales that make it affordable for most.
Look into vinyl plank flooring . It's durable, affordable and looks like wood but its easier to take care of and its waterproof .
Vinyl or even sheet vinyl. Flooring options are endless depending on your budget. My vote would be to visit a prope flooring store to have them explain the pros and cons of each type of flooring along with cost for each.
My brother did the paper sack floor in a spare room over concrete. It looked great. Looked alot like stone. That's probably the cheapest way and if it doesn't work out, u wouldn't have much money in it.
Yes, I just replaced carpet with vinyl plank flooring that looks just like wood and it is waterproof. Very simple installation. The planks just snap together, no gluing. Be sure to buy the type that has a sound barrier glued to the bottom. I got mine at Lowes
Vinyl plank flooring sounds cool. I'm a big fan of carpet tiles, though, and always get a few extra to swap out when they get dirty.
