When you see ants, soak a cotton ball in the following solution and place beside every ant hill you see.

To keep away from children and pets, you can put the cotton ball in a used plastic container like a margarine tub with 2 or 3 ant sized holes poked around the bottom. Set the container beside the ant hill.

    Ant Bait Solution

    1 1/2 Cups warm water

1 1/2 TBSP Borax (make sure it's Borax)

    mix until dissolved

    add

    1/2 Cup Sugar

    mix until dissolved.

    Store in airtight container.

THIS IS TOXIC TO HUMANS AND PETS

I think we have another variety of ant but they probably all react pretty much the same way. To kill the intruders in a hurry, spray them with Windex. Obviously this doesn't affect the nest but it will stop the tiny invaders until you can take more drastic action. I got this tip from my pest control technician.

I have also used Windex to kill ant in the house when I have them, I also use it on spiders that seem to always appear out of nowhere in every corner of the house.

Ants love cornmeal and it kills them. We use Jiffy because it is sweet and they quickly take it to the nest and kill the queen too. WE tried all the poisons, traps, bait, everything. Then we learned about cornmeal and we got rid of tiny "sugar" ants, fire ants, regular black ants. Just put it on the hill or trail where they travel. One small box is usually good for 5 applications. One box usually lasts us more than one summer, but I keep extra in my pantry just for them!
