That narrow gap that fills up with crumbs etc and is almost impossible to clean.

  • They sell "gap strips" - attaching an example - sold at lots of stores, like Bed Bath and Beyond, hardware stores.

What first comes to mind is... Is your stove level with your counter. This helps a lot. Most stoves have leveling feet on them which also adjusts the height.

Try an old toothbrush or a nail scrubbing brush. If the crumbs are dry, this should get a good 97-99 percent of the crumbs.

Otherwise, I would try a dish cloth and a butter knife. If you lay the cloth flat across the gap, use the dull side of the knife to push the cloth into the crack a bit and drag it all to the front of the stove. Wet cloth will clean the dribbles while a dry should move the crumbs.

    Hope this helps.

Look in the various small catalogs: Walter Drake, Carol Wright, Lillian Vernon, or on line. There is a metal strip that comes in chrome or copper color and drops right down into this space. I have the same problem and the metal insert works wonders to keep junk from collecting or falling to the floor.

ij its real narrow, I have caulked it with bathroom silicon caulk, use clear or white. If its wide, I would buy one of the aluminum filler strips, I have this, they are only a few dollar. http://www.drleonards.com/no-spill-strip/75804.cfm?clicksource=fi_0600__view_all

I agree with Naomie, DW and GVargo1959. The item they are talking about is not very expensive in is nice and neat looking. I'd get one myself if I didn't have a drop in range that has walls on 2 sides and open areas on the other 2 sides.

    Good luck!

My brilliant daughter told me to cover ours with packing tape. It is wide, easy to use and invisible in place. Works great!
