Most of our clients either replace the paneling with drywall or paint over what they have to make it look more modern. Did you see a picture of someone adding more wood to the paneling to give it a "board and batten" look?

I covered the paneling in my old house, by covering it with dry wall mud. I spread it on very thick and in a rough pattern, so the walls looked stuccoed. In some areas where the seams might show through, I had to add a second coat. When it dried, I painted a toasty color. My plan was to add an antique glaze wash over the wall, but the toast color was so pretty, I left it alone. The process took a lot of elbow grease, but it was well worth the effort.
