Buy the Tree of your choice. Find the right spot for it. Dig a hole . Place it in and cover with the soil already removed. If windy site, Stake the tree for support and to protect from too much Rocking. Pour a Large Can of Water on the ground around the newly planted tree. Keep well watered in hot weather. OR YOU COULD TRY PLANTING CHERRY STONES, BUT IT WOULD BE MANY YEARS (if at all) that you would have a tree that would fruit.

When I plant a tree (any tree) after I dig the hole I fill the hole with water and let it soak in then I plant the tree. I pack the dirt around the tree and water again. I also stake my trees to help support them. Now most fruit trees need cross pollination so you will need to plant a second tree, either another cherry or a apple. Check with your nursery to see which tree will work best for your cherry tree.
You can also transplant sampling sucker plants from a friend or neighbors cherry tree. Dig it up being sure to get it with plenty of dirt still around the roots. Once home place it in a buck of water while you dig your hole but don't leave your sapling in the water longer then 30 minutes or it will kill your sapling. It is important however to soak it for up to that 30 minutes. Once your hole is dug, add a little fertilizer ( about a half a hand full) in the bottom of your hole. Add a little peat to your hole (about a gallon of it) And add some of the dirt you took out of your hole and mix them all together well. If you don't have peat or fertilizer you can just use part of a bag of potting soil that has fertilizer in it but still add some of your dirt back in the hole with it and mix well. Then plant your sapling and water well. This step helps to settle the dirt around the root system and is vital to having your tree thrive. One other thing is do always dig your hole twice the size of your root ball and never plant your tree or shrub for that matter deeper then the soil was on your tree or bush. In other words you don't want your soil higher up on the trunk then it was when it was already in the ground when you dug it up or bought it. Keep your newly planted tree watered especially in hot weather so the soil is damp but not waterlogged. Once your tree starts putting on new leaves you can water as usual but don't let your dirt dry to the point of being dusty or cracking for the first season. You'll be surprised at how fast a cherry tree grows. They are one of the fastest growing trees. They are pretty trees and look even better if planted with 3 trees to a hole. They are beautiful when in full bloom, pretty with green cherries on them and even prettier as the cherries turn from green to red. They ripen in our area (Southern Missouri) in early to mid May but beware the birds love them and can completely strip of mature cherry tree of it's fruit in one day if you don't put netting over it or place a motion activated owl in the tree. They are easy to plant and easy to grow and make beautiful visual additions to any yard so don't be afraid to try them. Good Luck, I hope this helps!
If you want the tree to produce cherries you must plant two of them.
