If your closet contents have not been needed for a year, do yourself a huge favor and get rid of it. You don't have to throw it away. You can offer some of the things to family members and donate some to places like Goodwill.

Do you have reason to suspect an infestation of some sort? If not, weapons will be unnecessary, just open the door.

In all seriousness...why has it been closed for so long? I can think of lots of reasons, but without knowing yours, it will be difficult to offer you sound advice. 😉

It was closed because was too tiny to hang clothes in it so I just have storage box es blocking it

  • What is in the closet? Chances are if it has not been opened for a year, you do not need the contents. Just clean and donate everything. I can't imagine not using a closet for a year, but I have a tiny house and a lot of stuff.

I would have a can of bug spray, a big bat, a dog to scare large intruders, and a cat to catch the mice that will invariably run between your feet. I recently opened just such a closet and pandemonium! Mostly from the overflow falling out and scaring the animals, but mostly from the bonk on my head. Lol
