Cover for double recliner

I am needing how to cover a double recliner that is not damaged, just needs a better covering. It has to be able to bend easily with each side. I don't want it to look like I threw a piece of cloth over it but make it somehow fitted. I do not own a sewing machine and it will truly have to be a fairly simple DIY! Thanks!

Not sure if you can make a cover without sewing.

Do a Google search for recliner cover to see if you can find an appropriate cover for the size of your recliner. Most covers are made with elastic grips to hold them in place, and you just toss them over the furniture and tuck them into place. No sewing required.

I purchased a cover for my husband' recliner. It fits the seat, back and arms.

I bought an elastic stretchy loveseat cover in a dark grey. It looks great, comfy and inexpensive. If your recliners are super full, but a couch sized one. They have them all over the place. They look better than you think. And they don't wrinkle or ride up or fall off. And being stretchy, they move with the recliner. I only paid $20 for mine at a New England chain if sites but they are available at target, bed bath beyond, etc and online. They look awful in the package but pretty nice in person (shocker!!) Good luck!

Could you Paint it or is the fabric threadbare?

I tried since it is not damaged. It is micro fiber and when I tried it, the fabric got so stiff. I did the back trying it. It would be really not something I would want to even touch, it is so stiff and rough. Being Microfiber I don't think it would take a Dye with Ritt which I did with a damask white chair which came out beautiful!

Have you tried to brush the back in different directions to soften it?

Some people use paste wax on their painted fabric chairs...makes them softer, I am told.
