Cannas need lots of sunshine and fertile, moist soil—but you don’t have to pamper them. They do well with a good supply of water and a thin layer of mulch around will help retain moisture as well. You got this- go on and grow 'em :)
YES! They need a spot in your yard that is sunny for at least part of the day but it doesn't appear to matter whether it's morning or afternoon sun, at least not in my yard in Missouri. They spread and grow like crazy. In fact, I thinned out my cannas a few years ago and threw a lot of the debris in my compost pile. It now has a hedge of cannas all the way around one end. My "oldest" bed has cannas that grow about eight feet tall every year, reaching up to the bottom of my upstairs windows.
Very easy to grow- I planted the bulbs, using just normal potting soil, watered them and made sure they got LOTS of sun. I now have gorgeous red/ yellow cannas and it was easy. I watered them when the top soil was dried out which was about every day since they are in direct sun. I have a bad habit of either over watering or forgetting to water plants/flowers so I put the cannas in a large pot and set it right outside the front door so I would see it every time I went outside. As a child we had cannas around our mailbox and I remember them getting very tall and filling out beautifully with flowers. Mine aren't as big -yet- but this is their first summer and being as they come back every year I am sure next year they will be bigger and better! Enjoy!!!

Very easy, I live in the south and they grow here with no effort except that they need water to bloom during dry weather.
