A New Look for Candles

I have two of these battery operated flickering candles that were really scratched and messed up. A new surface was needed!
The candles have an actual wax finish which took a great toll over the years. They still work well, though. My idea : to cover them with pretty paper napkins that have a seasonal theme for late summer.
First I cut the napkin to fit, removed the inner layer of paper.
With good old Mod Podge , glaze the candles with a thin coat. Then gently roll the candles over the paper. The paper is very thin, and once it gets wet with the glue it can be rubbed off, so one must go slowly and carefully.
Don't worry about the wrinkles, they add character and, actually, once the stuff dries they are less noticeable.
To be able to hang them on the wall if desired, and to hide the seams, make a hanger with sisal twine.
First, lay the candle on something that will keep it from rolling and allows for you to use both hands.
Cut two pieces of sisal twine that are one inch longer than double the height of the candle.
fold the sisal in half and hot glue it together, leaving a small loop at the folded end. While the glue is still warm straighten the sisal out as well as you can..
Hot glue the sisal onto the candle, leaving the loop at the top of the candle. This is when I learned that my glue gun hates me. Let it set, then cut off any excess glue with small scissors or a utility knife.
Near the top run a long piece of the sisal around the whole thing, knot it and then take the ends back to the line of sisal, Cut the ends to fit and glue them on.
This just made me feel more secure about hanging the candles.
Finished and hung on the wall.
Finished as a centerpiece with wildflowers from my meadow.
