A friend owns a frame & Vintage shop in our local downtown area. We have talked about my signs before, and she decided she would like to put some in her storefront windows for Thanksgiving. These will be a "preview" to Christmas Holiday time where I'll be selling some INSIDE of her shop at the annual HOLIDAZZLE event that is every year~ How lucky and blessed am I ~!
These signs, the wood was painted black first. Then stencil letters were put on top. Then whitewashed style painting was put on top of that. Letters were peeled off, and when dry, took a hand sander to edges. Nailed it onto a larger piece of wood, and put some twine in between. I do think now though (thanks to my daughter's suggestion) I will wrap the twine ALL the way around the middles, so know board is showing.
"Party of" signs are big right now. I usually put the last name on there, but since these are for a store front, just used "family" for the name. Still works. Painted with an off white color and then vinyl lettering applied to top.

This was made from tongue and groove boards that I got from my brother in law. I just sanded the outsides of the board, and left the middle as it was when given to me. Then put a stencil for the word "gather" on top, painted inside the stencil, then peeled off.
LOVE this sign, wish it could be my excuse for EVERY day not just Thanksgiving..Ha! Painted with a orange/rust paint. Stencil letters applied to the top. Repainted with a white color, letters peeled off then sanded.
Love this one. It's just a picture I printed off my laser (uses toner, not ink cartridges) printer. Then Mod Podged it onto a piece of wood. When it was dry, went over the top of the picture with Mod Podge again. Then when that was dry, took and sanded the edges and lightly parts of the picture. Love her!
This one was the same process as above, only bigger picture and I also took some Rust Effects paste (you can get at Michael's) and used my fingers to paint it on the top and bottom of the picture. It really makes it stand out, and gives it a whole different look from the first one above. If you try Rust Effects, along with their Pantina Paste, you will be hooked. A little gritty and messy, but love the texture and effects.
Sanded the tongue and groove board completely. Then painted a light blue/green color on, except stopping before the edges. Then put a stencil on for the words. Painted inside the stencil, and then took stencil off. Light sanding on edges. This paint was from the COUNTRY CHIC PAINT collection! Love the colors~
This one was done the same way above, only using another color from https://www.countrychicpaint.com/. So many fun signs you can make with just wood, paint, stencils and a little elbow grease. Get painting!!!!!!!
