Check the package but most advise waiting 6 weeks. As it is fall, I would recommend dethatching first, aerating & then sprinkling the seed. Then I would consider adding some mulch on top & watering well. If you live way up north you might not be able to, but most areas you can do this so it gets established / germinates before the cold hits

I would wait a few weeks. The best time to plant grass seed is in early spring or fall.
