Being thrifty it killed me to pay an exterminator for the mouse in the wall and bees everywhere. After no improvement in 2 months we cancelled the contract.
I heard a strange noise in our ceiling. My son saw bees pouring into the window and roof area.
They were hornets. Thankfully not honey bees because I'd pay for their removal.
These were flowing in by the hundreds.
We bought Sevin powder and did it ourself.
This is the roof and window top area. The bees were just having a grand convention at our expense. So we waited until night time to put up the ladder. This area also goes into our attic which is in our hall way. Years ago we had this similar problem. We did the same thing so it's our go to. I just wished I remembered it before paying an exterminator.
The yellow circle shows the mad bee trying to get in. The Sevin powder is what kills the bees. The powder gets on their feet and they bring it in the hive. Kills them immediately. I don't like these bees but I don't want them to suffer either. This year has been a particularly bad year with nasty bees. Hornets, those little ones I think they are sweat bees. Those are really awful creatures.
Ah ha! Now they are going into the vent. I'll place screen over the inside to prevent these little buggers from getting into my attic. Nasty winged things!
I don't think you can see it but there are a few bees trying to squeeze into the upper edge of the window. They are persisten! But I'm smarter!
Wear a mask and gloves when using the Sevin powder. It's toxic. I hate using toxic but sometimes it's needed.
My husband poured the powder from a water bottle and sports top to force the powder into the crevice. It goes all over. A little goes a long way.

The mouse in the wall has been caught. Ill
post the contraption I made for them. Regular traps, glue traps and a stupid round trap to close them in all failed.

Having a home means never ever running out of things to do or projects to post!

I didn't even plan on doing a post today but nature had another idea!
