try putting charcoal in a container and putting it around the room to absorb the odor. burning something could only mask the smoke odor and not actually remove it..

Plain charcoal briquettes ( not the 'easy light' kind,) and shallow dishes of dry baking soda will help; ANY fabrics - Curtains/carpets, etc. will hold odor and may need professional cleaning

Febreze works great to eliminate odors from couches and throw pillows, etc. Also, fragrance wax melts (can be purchased at Bath and Body Works or at Wal-Mart and other stores) infuse a pleasant frangrance of your choice into your home. They can be melted in pretty containers using candles or melted in electric warming containers available in a variety of shapes. I keep one in my living room and one in the kitchen, which I use as needed. I keep one permanently in the bathroom so there is a pleasant smell whenever anyone enters that room.

Ask at a car dealer. They all know how to get smoke out of cars so it should work on walls too.
