Is it possible to transform my deck to an enclosed room

replacing deck now. maybe next year or so want to put roof on and create an enclosed sun porch.

    Yes, you can. You will want to make a regular floor though, I think. My father-in-law enclosed the deck he had built onto their house. He added the roof and walls after just a few years of building the deck. I don't know if he insulated it though, as it was always too cold to use the room in winter so they kept the door to the room closed in winter. Good luck with your project!

    You will need a building permit, and a plan to get one, and you will have to make sure the deck can support the additional weight of the studs, joists and wall coverings especially if its off the ground. You might have to put in some concrete piers to hold the weight.

    yes if you put down another floor and used deck as sub-floor. We plan to do this too, but be sure to check your city or county for permits and insurance about enclosing and connecting it to your home.

    The roof could have skylight to let light into the closure. Check for brochures at your local Lowe's or whatever do it yourself store you have. They usually have brochures for about anything you want to do.
