Do palm trees attract and breed scorpions?

I am planning my landscaping in Las Vegas and wants to design a cooling tropical feel, however I was warned about scorpions.

I'm from Phoenix and hate scorpions. Palm trees and just about everything attract scorpions. The little translucent ones have the worst sting. They do like it where it is a little moist the best. Read up on them.

  I agree, it doesn't matter what you plant everything needs moisture. Because of their skeletal makeup, I suggest plant what you want, sprinkle diatomaceous earth around any entrance scorpions have access to, usually poisons don't bother them to much. D/M works on their skeletal make-up. Door mats are especially inviting. Wear gloves.

If an area has scorpions then it won't matter what you plant. There will be scorpions.

Pay attention to where you put your hands and feet. Shake your shoes out, look up on the ceiling once in awhile. L.V. has rattlesnakes too.
