I had an old tray I had picked up somewhere and wanted to give it new life.
BEFORE
This is what it looked like before. Not sure what it was used for but I wanted to make it beautiful!
I grabbed my Heritage All in One Chalk Style Paint. I love this color, it's called Wedgewood Blue. I had received it from Heritage when they were first introducing the product. I used it on a project earlier in the year and remembered how much I loved the color.
Look at how pretty the color is. The paint goes on smoothly and the coverage is perfect! I painted both inside and outside and let it dry over night.
I then grabbed my new "toy" :) My Chalk Couture Transfers. I have just started using these transfers and I am in love with them. They make it almost impossible to mess up a transfer.
I cut out the transfers that I wanted to use. I grabbed my chalk colors, gave them a stir and we were ready! There is a plastic backing on them so you peel them apart and place the sticky side down. These transfers, depending on use and care can be reused 25-50 times!
I placed the transfers where I wanted them and picked my chalk colors and dabbed them on top of the transfer. I wanted to try blending the colors so I just willy nilly put colors down.
Once I had the colors down I took my squeegee and moved it over the transfer. It's a light swipe but with enough pressure to make sure the chalk is going through the transfer. I have learned when blending to only go in one direction so you don't over take your colors.
Once you have removed your transfer you place the transfer in a bowl of water to make sure the chalk is removed. When you are able you then clean the transfer with water, pat dry on both sides and then on the sticky side you take a wipe (I use the Home Depot brand of antibacterial, no bleach wipes) and wipe the sticky side before placing back down on the transfer backing. That helps keep the sticky part sticky and should increase the life of the transfer.
While the chalk was still wet, which it does dry incredibly fast, I sprinkled some fine glitter I had on hand. It's super hard to capture in a video. After the project was completely dry I sealed it with a quick coat of Krylon Crystal Clear, Flat, Acrylic Spray Coat.
I am happy with how it turned out, it really gave this piece a new lease on life! Thank you for checking out my project!

Very interesting. Is the tray to be hung on the wall? The in-depth stenciling would be a great backdrop for a few more items in the tray. Best wishes 😇
