Using shiplap to cover something.

I want to ship lap my kitchen island on three sides. How does one finish the edges? Is it best to use a corner molding or leave the edges "raw"? If I leave it raw, would I do the sides first and then the face of the island or in my case, the largest "wall"? This is where we have counter stools. I haven't seen this addressed in any posts. Thanks.

I would definitely put solid wood vertical strips on the corners ( 2 pcs on each corner) and butt the shiplap up to them (tightly). I think "raw" would not look so great in a kitchen and would be difficult to clean.

You miter the edges. This gives a finished look.

do a lap joint on the corners. Have board on one edge project past the corner by the same thickness of the other board.

Thanks for all your ideas. I have a small I definitely

miter saw which would not accommodate a 4 inch or wider board to do a miter. I will be experimenting.
