A Cute Little Bistro Set

Stuck in the middle of a cold, nasty winter, I'm doing my best to look ahead to spring. So when I pulled a couple of dirty but very cool vintage wooden chairs from the garage, washed them up and paired them with a World Market table, all found at yard sales, a turquoise beach theme immediately came to mind!To create this cute bistro set, I used CeCe Caldwell's Vintage White and American Paint Company's Peacock, a gorgeous turquoise. I was sure to clean any accidental paint off of the original patinaed hardware because I loved the dark look of it against the white. I used Peacock on the chair insets and then made a faux inset on the table my masking off a square area for the turquoise. They all seem to go perfectly together now! And the color definitely reminds me of a warm summer day!
Vintage White and Peacock Paints give these pieces a fun, beachy theme.
This slotted wooden table is not vintage but goes so well with the pair of chairs, especially painted with the appearance of an inset area to match them.
The chairs in their original condition. Well, not quite... this is AFTER the washing! It's not the best part of the job, but important to get a nice clean surface before painting.
I cleaned any paint off of the dark, patinaed hardware with a cotton swab before it dried.
I used a sparse coat of paint on both the table and chairs and lightly distressed some of the edges with a damp rag.
Again here, you can see the light coat of paint I used. In addition to distressing, using light coverage with your paint can also give the appearance of a time-worn finish.
2 Vintage Chairs and a newer table came together nicely to create a bistro set that will be perfect for warm summer mornings on the deck.
