Light goes on and off itself

My Dining Room ceiling light has five LED bulbs in it. For some reason, one of the bulbs will turn on with the other 4 but after 5-10 minutes it will start to flicker, then goes completely out. After 1/2 hour it will turn back on! We do not have a black cat nor mother- in-law living with us.

Two possibilities immediately come to mind:

    1) Bad bulb

    2) Wiring fault

For what it’s worth, I have rope lights in my cabin under the loft with a remote. They sometimes go on or off for no apparent reason.

Id try the bad bulb Possibility first. Switch two bulbs around and see what happens. If you are old like me - make notes on bulb locations. Or write numbers or letters on the bases to tell them apart.

I had same problem. Turned out to be a bad bulb. Replaced it problem solved.

Have the electrics to the light fitting where the bulb is checked out, there could be a fault or dodgy connection!

    Change the bulb.

    Hahaha! 😏

I would check the bulb first because it's the easiest to check after cats and Mother in Laws.

If not the bulb, I would turn off the breaker, ( you don't want an "I told you so" from you know who)

and check that particular bulb socket for any obvious reasons for the trouble. A connection may heat up and disconnect and as it cools, reconnect. Jiggle things to make sure they are connected well. You may have to pull the fixture so that you can follow the wiring to that bulb socket up to its original connection. Since the rest of the bulbs are working well, the problem can be isolated to that one section of wires and connections. YouTube is helpful if you are unsure of different wire connectors and how to use them.

    Hope that helps
