Another Thrift Store Lamp Repurpose

In my last post I took an old single jar lamp and made it into a decorative jar. In this post I wanted to show that you don't need to use just ginger jar lamps but ANY kind of lamp can make something new.

ok so this time I got these candle stick type lamps at goodwill for $5 a piece. And I decided that I was going to make them into candlesticks. So the first step is to take the guts of the lamp out.
Once again I started by cutting the electrical cord off for easier access and unscrewing the bolt on the bottom of the lamp. A super easy step, but I ran into a problem.
Little did I know that when I took the lamp guts out the whole lamp would fall apart into to pieces. I really debated on what to do. The pieces that came out could be used for so many things, but I promised my sister a set of candle sticks for the top of the bathroom cabinet so I had to follow through.
First step is to glue the parts back together. I used E-6000 glue (clear). Its a great heavy duty glue that I use for almost everything. I let the glue dry overnight.
I then got two of these saucers from Walmart, they will be the top pieces. These cost around $2.50 each. Next step spray paint. I always spray paint things separately, just in case I screw up the spray painting, I can redo pieces instead of the whole thing. And this time I did screw up the spray paint and had to repaint one of the sticks. Once spray painted I let all the pieces dry overnight.
a pretty blue to go with the shower curtain. I did the bottoms of the plates because the items are going on top of the cabinet in the bathroom and they would be seen.
You can't really see it in the picture but its a pretty blue-grey. The next step is gluing the painted saucer on to the top of the candle stick, where the hole for the lamp part would be.
My sister didn't want an extra embellishments but you could probably do whatever you wanted. When I glued the pieces together, purposefully left a small piece out so they would have different heights. And there you have a really easy idea for a pretty home decor item.

Thank you all so much. I live with my retired older sisters. and cash is tight in this economy. projects like this are a great way to be cost effective but really fun.

What a GREAT project! You said you got these at a thrift store, but did Hometalk change it to Amazon? That really bugs me lately!
Did the lights have rods down center? You could of put it back & added a big wooden ball to top then the plate. Made ball flat on top.
