OH MON! How disheartening! I am so sorry you haven't had any success with your zucchini (I think you'd love the taste of deep fried zucchini flowers, or stuffed zucchini .... and my grankids love it when I make chocolate cake because it is so moist with the addition of the finely grated then chopped zucchini I add to it, and you can't taste it at all). Sounds like a squash vine borer. My plants start out great, produce a couple zucchini, then like yours the leaves start turning yellow and brown. Here is a good site I found to try and ward off those borer's for next year. I've been researching this for a while and found this article was the best one I have read.
