Try using a Magic Eraser on the enclosure to remove the hard water staining. They are really great for cleaning that stuff.

If it's just hard water stains (dull film), white vinegar should do the trick. If your tub has actual rust stains, first try cleaning the rust off with a dryer sheet. If that doesn't work, you'll have to use a calcium/rust remover like CLR.

Vinegar scrub will remove it but you need to soak it good with vinegar, maybe more than once. I will tell you the easiest way is to get a Turbo scrubber and use it! They are magnificent! We ordered ours online, but they have them now in department stores like WalMart. Turbo scrubbers run about $40 but I wish I had one years ago! It takes the hard out of hard cleaning.
