This is my locust tree roots. Is it diseased? Branches are falling and I'm worried that the winter snow will take down the whole tree?

This bumps are on the roots and it seems like they're coming more and more to the surface also when the 3 bigger beaches cracked and feel there were little specks of dark brown in the inner part of the branch. I couldn't detect any bugs though.

Picture of the tree itself would help also.

It looks like the tree roots are showing above ground. I have several different trees like that but all are healthy

My locust tree has surface ground roots like this which seems normal.

unrelated to this my tree is diseased- large branches at the upper outer extremities are leafless dying and breakng off. It has signs of rot inside out due to some holes and the presence of these "Phellinus robiniae" mushrooms.

The presence of the mushrooms are a bad sign. Unfortunately for us the tree tho still flowering and leafy - with this center rot -it will need to be removed before it falls.

Once this Fungus grows on the tree it will be all over. Not much can be done for the tree. Removal, and salvage some some plank lumber is about all. Tree will Die an fall over. Sorry.

Have an arborist look at it - to me it just looks like the lawn mower has run over the exposed roots and it has scarred over

I have a few healthy Trees with above ground roots that look just like this. Lawn mower damage has not hurt the trees. They just repair themselves and carry on.

Take your photo to your extension service in your area. You may even be able to send the pictures via email...call first. That's what they are there for. To help citizens in your area. I have lichens growing on the bark of my trees. Some roots are surface roots and my mower will hit high spots if I forget to raise the blade.
