They are very destructive. I spray the outside of my foundation 2x a year and do around the door thresholds too. I use a Carpenter Ant and Termite spray in a white pump bottle I got at True Value. Wear gloves and a mask.

If they are inside, I would call an exterminator, they will eat your house. The guy down the block just had to replace the side of his house, the house across the street had to replace the side of their house.

We tried everything from poisons to bait and hated using chemicals in an area that our pets or kids played. Nothing was successful until we learned about cornmeal. Sprinkle cornmeal where you see ants inside or out. They take it back to the nest and it kills the queen. Carpenter ants can ruin your roof and even walls so it is important to completely be rid of them. We used Jiffy because it was sweet and they really latched onto it. One box is about 33 cents but will usually last for 5 applications. For carpenter ants I think I'd use half a box or more because they are so destructive. This will work on any ants.

Use a professional pest service. Carpenter ants are as serious as termites and can destroy wood.

Contact a professional. The damage to your home cannot be dealt with personally without a professional checking it first.
