Married 47 years, getting new end tables. The originals, from the late 60s, have genuine marble in the tops. How can I use the marble slabs (14"x20"), just to keep it around as a memento? One slab, from the coffee table, has our toddler son's crayon creation on it! He'll soon be 45 years old! Thx.

Create new tables for your son as a present or as nights stands.

You could use one as a cutting board in your kitchen. The one with the "artwork" other would look nice on top of a dresser in a bedroom. Maybe place a picture of your son on it as well as other mementos.

I have an end table with the marble top too. Mine has a drawer. I was thinking of painting the wood. I like the idea of a kitchen cutting board. What have you tried to remove the crayon? heat from an iron through a cloth? Magic Eraser? What about using one of the slabs for a checker board? Paint squares on it or every other one. Then put it on a base or just on a table. Or keep it in the original end table and use that way.

Make candy on it....hard tack...peanut brittle....etc. keep it cold and pour your candy out on it to cool. In between use it as a cutting board.

Glue a sheet of cork to the bottom and use as a large trivet that won't scratch the dining room table. That size will hold a turkey platter with no problem. When there is no turkey, put it to good use as a safe landing for hot curling irons, soldering gun or any other heat source.
