How to find out where snakes are coming from?

2 Different Snakes in our basement found last night. One was big and the other like a baby. My husband said that they came in through the garage when the door was left open. Could be but I'm not so sure, and I want to know for sure, I never was spooked like last night and I just want to make sure it doesn't happen again. I'll have a heart attack! We live in the mountains. Thank you

if your basement has an open drain pipe, floor drain not covered ...snakes, mice rats.. all can come on in and play. when my neighborhood flooded in '93 i put down a live catch trap the 1 st night....125 mice were relocated to the river. the snakes came to eat the next batch of mice....nice sharp shovel was waiting.

Well if you live in the mountains, you should know its not smart to leave your garage door open, its inviting a whole host of critters in the least of which might be Mr. Bear next time. And if a family of racoons moves in they are incredibly destructive. Possums, rats, squirrels all cause damage.

I would examine my foundation and the ground around it for any holes, fill in all the holes and cracks with caulk or expanding foam if big, and lay some rock around the foundation, something like lava rock it real good. If you have vents in your foundation make sure the hardware screen is intact, and replace quickly if someone chews through it.

I would check your States' University website to determine what kind of snakes your dealing with.

My sisters dryer was in the basement... She dried 2 snakes and a load of bloody clothes...They figured out the snakes got in thru the drier vent pipe, one of those curly silver ones that vent the drier air outside. Covered it with screen and no problems since...Yeah, she was totally freaked.....

First pack a bag and leave and set the entire house on fire!!!!! That's what I would do! I hate snakes!!!

first, call animal control and get them removed. then, block any opening or crack to keep any more from getting in. Oh, and tell your husband to not leave the garage door open anymore.
