Why did my strawberries die when I planted them using Wood Palates?

Well, unfortunately you were unlucky, It sometimes happens! I have a large Strawberry Pot myself and I too lost my strawberries last year, but I shall start again next year and hope for better luck. I didn't take off and pot up the runners as I was so busy, but I will making sure I do next year...........Good Luck! (Just a thought, Strawberry Plants only last for 3 year max, fruiting less each year, that's why you must pot up the runners)

I have a large strawberry bed.They are ever bearing and get a lot of runners. I have them planted in mounded rows. I started out with 36 plants 7 years ago and and now about 3-4 hundred. Every 3 years at the end of the season I do away with the oldest plants making room for for runners. I have never used straw or anything else and it gets pretty cold here in the winter.

You have to be careful when using palates for growing plants. Best if you first use a lining...such as one for a pond. Then add soil and plants. Sometimes we learn by trial and error.
