Here is a good video, and you can find many more on YouTube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GiL6jyQETkg

The easiest way is to cut squares all the same size from any denim you want to use. Some people cut them just a little larger than pockets so there are pockets scattered all over the quilt, esp. to give to a college student to have handy tucks for his pens, papers, cards, when he studies by his bed. Cut the squares 1/8 inch larger on each side than you want for the final squares. Sew all the squares together matching corners carefully. Sew a thin blanket onto the back and cover with a blue or tie-died looking sheet on the back. Tie the quilt with yarn at the corners all the way through the quilt and tie off on the front of the quilt. You don't have to do every corner, judge about every foot or two. An alternative to tying off with yarn through all the layers is to stitch on top of each seam through all the layers. We call it "stitch in the ditch." This is true quilting to sew through all layers.
