Try food grade diatomaceous earth
Put salt around the base so they cannot get to it. Be sure to take off any you find on the plant. Replace the salt as needed after rain/watering etc. Perhaps they will leave it alone after you once stop them. They won't crawl across salt (it melts them)
Diatomaceous Earth.
I live in the Northwest and have a lot of slugs. A very smart gardener here gave me this cure. Pour beer into a tuna fish can or something similar. The slugs love it. They crawl into the can and drink themselves to death.

crush your egg shells and place around base of plant. Slugs do not like crawling over them.
Place a bowl of beer under the plant. Slugs will try to eat/drink it, it kills the slug.
